This "Resto-Vival" pattern is a delightfully whimsical addition to my line, this pattern is for five different fabric hats that can be made to match your ensemble. These hats are sporty, tailored, or quirky and are a fun base to use for your creative millinery work and can provide a fun base for your embroidery or trimmings.
- About Wearing History Resto-Vival™ Patterns -
Resto-Vival™ Patterns are original historic patterns that have been restored and revived. Original patterns are usually available only in single sizes, precut from tissue paper and totally unprinted, with details like grainlines and darts indicated only by small perforations. Resto-Vival™ patterns are printed on sturdy bond paper instead of tissue and clearly marked with drawn and labeled markings. These markings aid the modern sewer in understanding the markings of the original pattern and the construction of the garment. Resto-Vival™ patterns follow the period shapes of the original patterns, maintaining the historical accuracy of the completed garment. Original period instructions are included. These instructions are text only (unless otherwise noted) and fairly minimal, especially compared to instructions for modern patterns. At least an intermediate knowledge of dressmaking and a good familiarity with pattern construction is suggested. You may choose to have a modern or period sewing book handy to help with basic construction methods that the pattern instructions do not cover in detail. Also, fitting a muslin mockup is strongly recommended, as all garments were meant to be worn over period foundation garments or corsetry.

I've now made two of the hats in this pattern, and they have both been really simple to assemble and the end result is adorable. Most recently I completed the "golf tam" (view 1). It was a super quick project and I'm really happy with how it turned out. Very cute!!

This has been such a fun pattern to sew up. I've made versions 1 and 4 so far. Both were quick, easy projects and the directions were very clear. Can't wait to try out some of the other versions.

Have had so much fun with this pattern so far. I've already made two of style III, which was super easy and fast to put together. On both of them I elimated the way the instructions put the ribbon in and added my own way to trim the hat. Working on style IV now and looking forward to putting together style I. The nice thing is how fast these go together, just a few hours and the instructions are pretty simple to follow. My next challenge is to enlarge the pattern to a 23" for style III, the two I've made don't sit the way they are supposed to but are still stylish sitting at an angle on my head (but I'd like to get some to sit down on my head too). Its a great pattern to work with and fun to add your own personal style to. Hope you get more great hat patterns!
